Anyone here have any experience with wifi enabled SIP handsets? I've been looking at the spectra_link_ 8020 and 8030 but I'd like to get hands on feedback rather than reading vendor specs. I'm looking for handsets that can hook up to our switchvox phone system and allow my pager carriers to use the phone system from any wifi access point. Also considering iphone/ipod touch SIP phone, might be cheaper. Thoughts? ~Frost~

I have a _link_sys WIP300 (no longer made), it was OK . I have also used FRing on my iPhone to connect to my own Asterisk _base_d PBX and found it to have a lot of latency, even on a wifi connection that was very close (network hops and latency) to my PBX. Local SIP2SIP traffic would be much better. Also wifi access points typically have no QoS so call quality will be lacking. Fine for internal calls, not so much for sales calls. Sorry this is more of a what doesn't work kind of email, but hope it helps. Chris

I've found the native SIP client on the Nokia N800 (Maemo 2008) to be   OK, as long as you use a headset or mic+earbud adapter that comes with   the N800.    Also, I was using a dedicated wifi access point over   which I had exclusive control, without any interference, and connected   just 20ms away from the SIP endpoint, so performance was not an issue.
