Hi all, Anyone using VoIP at home? I'm moving house and want to ditch my phone line in favour of naked DSL & VoIP.  I've been looking at http://www.voipchoice.com.au/voip-provider-comparison-australia.php but I'm not familiar with many of the companies so I thought I'd see if anybody on this list can recommend a provider _base_d on experience - I just want to avoid getting stuck with a dodgy service... We mostly do local calls in Brisbane, and interstate calls to family in Melbourne. Cheers, Matt.

Who are you going to use as an ISP? I've used www.nehos.net (they're in Brisbane and connected directly to Internode's network) and their service has been pretty good. They also offer a multitenanted asterisk service so you can set up new extensions etc that you can configure yourself on their web site. We use them for all of our inbound at work and they rarely miss a beat. 2009/8/12 Matt Siebert <mlsieb...@gmail.com Hi all, Anyone using VoIP at home? Don't be in a huge rush.  The quality will really depend on what the quality of your broadband is and how many points of presence your provider has. I use Mynetfone and at times people say it sounds like an echo chamber and also people hang up when I call out thinking its a call from India.  This even with cable broadband. You might be better off examining some of the unlimited mobile phone deals.

I used a well-known Sydney _base_d provider. We had hardware compatibility issues
