My ISP is k56flex I have tried Motorola Modem Surfer56k and my connect speeds never exceed 26.4. Took modem back and exchanged it for #2819 Zoom 56k and still not any better. I also have US Robotics 56k Win Modem installed on com3 . It will consistently connect at 28.0 I tried an another SIP provider with 56X2 and with my win modem consistently connect between 44-48 kbs. That would tent to eliminate phone line problems would it not? I have tried every init string that I can find but to no avail. MY 56k flex ISP has three differnent POP locations from 6 miles to 55 miles away. My 56x2 provider is 35 miles away . Any one have any suggestions that could help.

I have tried every init string that I can find but to no avail. MY 56k flex ISP has three differnent POP locations from 6 miles to 55 miles away. My 56x2 provider is 35 miles away . Any one have any suggestions that could help. 1. Try dialing the local K56 ISP as a long-distance call (with the area code), and try dialing by forcing a long distance carrier with the carrier's access code. 2. Try calling long distance to a known good K56 number.

I could be mistaken but isn't the USR an X2 instead of K56Flex. If so 28.8 is what your going to connect at. Possibly 33.6 but a 56KFlex won't talk to an X2 at the higher rates.
